The Matador
This joint has been dishing out tacos and enchiladas to city workers and sports fans for over 25 years in Downtown Phoenix. However, on Friday Nights at The Matador, the dining rooms are cleared out, the bars are restocked, and the cooks go home to make room for the crowd of party people lined up along Adams Street. You should arrive early to any RLE event, but The Matador has especially long lines. Ritmo Latino Entertainment has been filling this place up for a few years now, and have built a loyal following of fans; all of which enjoy dancing. You don’t go to The Matador on a Friday night to sit around and chit-chat. AL3 always seems to light up the main dance floor with a variety of old school beats, hip-hop hits, and ass-shaking reggaeton anthems. Around the back, The Manic Hispanic spins more of the same, but also adds some Cumbias which always attracts lots of fine women. It’s usually best to park in the garage, directly above The Matador, but you can also get a free spot on the lot at the Southwest corner of Washington and 1st Street. If you didn’t sign up to be on the Matador VIP List you will probably be waiting in line; if there’s not a line, consider yourself lucky. From outside, the place looks like any other downtown restaurant, with tinted windows and a small patio area, but you can hear the party thumping inside. The main entrance opens up to one huge dance floor, with a few restaurant booths spaced along the north side of the room. The dance floor is massive and you usually don’t get to see the floor because it’s full all night long. If you’re looking for a drink, don’t worry there’s a small bar and a beer tub sitting right along the dance floor. The main bar is at the west side of the club, and it wraps around to the back room where there is a second dance floor. The bartenders are quick and drink specials are always great on Friday nights. When you’re looking for someone to dance with you will know why Ritmo Latino calls it Caliente Chica Fridays. So many sexy ladies fill the dance floor of this hot Latin nightclub, which sometimes makes it difficult to choose who to dance with; in the end you can’t go wrong. The Matador’s friendly downtown crowd is all about having a good time and it really shows on the dance floor. Coach & Willie's
Everyone knows this is the best place to grub and slam a few drinks down before a ballgame in Downtown Phoenix. But some people don’t know that CW transforms into the hottest spot in downtown every Saturday Night. Hottest spot meaning: best dance music, sexiest women, and VIP accommodations. AL3 rocks the crowd, mixing hot hip-hop tracks and scratching on old school beats, he builds the intensity throughout the night and makes all the women hit the dance floor. The crowd usually starts the build around 11pm, so make sure and arrive early so you don’t have to wait in line. You can also pay a premium to enter through the VIP door on the side of the club. You gain access to the second floor with a wristband if you pay the premium price. What’s so special about the second floor? Well, first of all, you get a nice view of the outdoor dance floor below, and looking across at Downtown Phoenix skyscrapers is cool, too. The real deal is that the second floor has its own bar, which means no waiting in line downstairs. If you feel like you’re too far from the action by roosting upstairs in VIP, there are also tables open for reservation downstairs, on the raised patio. Patio VIP is definitely the sexiest spot, since it’s practically on the dance floor and you get a personal bartender along with your choice of bubbly.
